"Lo spazio urbano fornisce una quantità di messaggi basilari e unilaterali, certamente utili, ma per me senza personalità. Vorrei che all'unilateralità del messaggio venisse sostituito il concetto di reversibilità: si aggiunge un nuovo significato alla prima, portando altri livelli di lettura".

Applicando degli sticker sui cartelli stradali, senza che ne venga mai meno la leggibilità, Clet Abraham, artista francese che oggi vive a Firenze, li trasforma in simpatiche opere d'arte, a volte dai toni provocatori. Sebbene improprio definirlo un artista di strada, Clet di recente ha spostato il suo interesse sulla realizzazione di interventi urbani, una sorta di espressione artistica applicata alla vita quotidiana, che oggi riguarda le strade d'Italia, Francia e Inghilterra.

Clet Abraham, classe 1966, è un artista francese che da più di 18 anni vive in Italia e lavora come pittore e scultore a Firenze. Ha esposto in numerose gallerie romane, parigine e britanniche (Galleria Studio 99 Gallery, Le Marais a Parigi, Galerie Armel a Nantes) e presso varie istituzioni culturali.

Clet Abraham cleverly alters road signs with removable stickers. The aim behind this for of art is to defuse the meaning of road signs and irony on the social rules, but also offer a smile and, above all, encouragement to reflect on the current civil society constraints. As Clet is used to say, “My contribution is to stimulate debate”.

Born in France, in Brittany, Clet Abraham is a self-taught artist that has lived in Italy for over 20 years now and calls Florence home. His work on road signs can be found in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Great Britain and Spain. Clet's work has been exhibited all around Europe, and hosted by atelier such as the 99 Gallery, Le Marais (Paris), and Galerie Armel (Nantes).
